Basketball Recap: Southside Christian Takes a Loss

On Tuesday, the Southside Christian Sabres came up short against the Northside Christian Academy Crusaders and fell 72-62. While losing is never fun, the Sabres can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 145th, while the Crusaders are ranked 29th).

Cade McNeill continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Northside Christian Academy, going 6 for 11 on his way to 23 points and five rebounds. Those 23 points gave McNeill a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Hilton Dessausure, who went 7 of 14 on his way to 19 points and six rebounds.

Southside Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Northside Christian Academy, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-1.

The future could be bright for both Southside Christian and Northside Christian Academy: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. Southside Christian will try to hand First Presbyterian Academy at Shannon Forest their fourth-straight loss when the two meet at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Similarly, Northside Christian Academy will try to hand Gilbert their fourth-straight defeat when the two meet at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
