Baseball Game Preview: Hagerty Huskies vs. Winter Park Wildcats

For the second straight game, Hagerty will face off against Winter Park. The Huskies will be playing at home against the Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Hagerty 1.8, Winter Park 3) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Hagerty heads in on the heels of a playoff matchup on Thursday. They fell just short of Winter Park by a score of 2-1.

For Winter Park's part, Ryder Simon tossed a big game, striking out six batters over 7.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Simon has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Jackson Fleming was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

Winter Park has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 15 of their last 17 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 25-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.6 runs over those games. As for Hagerty, their defeat ended a nine-game streak of away wins and brought them to 26-5-1.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Saturday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Hagerty has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Winter Park struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.3 strikeouts.
