Soccer Game Preview: Xavier Prep vs. Rancho Mirage

Xavier Prep is 2-8 against Rancho Mirage since February of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Xavier Prep Saints will take on the Rancho Mirage Rattlers at 5:30 p.m. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Xavier Prep is headed into Friday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their sixth straight game on Wednesday. They came up short against Palm Desert, falling 9-1. While losing is never fun, the Saints can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 1157th, while the Aztecs are ranked 525th).

Meanwhile, Rancho Mirage fought the good fight in their overtime match against Palm Springs on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Indians by a score of 2-1. The Rattlers' loss signaled the end of their seven-game winning streak.

Rancho Mirage's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 10-3-3. As for Xavier Prep, their loss dropped their record down to 1-15-1.

Xavier Prep might still be hurting after the 7-0 defeat they got from Rancho Mirage in their previous matchup on January 6th. Can Xavier Prep avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
