Basketball Recap: Jean Agosto Key Part of a Team Effort in Oatkan Knights Win

Le Roy won the last time they faced Letchworth and things went their way on Friday too. The Le Roy Oatkan Knights strolled past the Letchworth Legends with points to spare, taking the game 68-49. Given the Oatkan Knights' advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 133rd, while the Legends are ranked 388th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Le Roy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jean Agosto out in front who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 15 boards. Agosto's evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Grady Gilligan was another key player, going 5 of 7 on his way to 12 points along with five boards and three steals.

Le Roy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in seven consecutive contests.

Le Roy's win bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Letchworth, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Le Roy will take on Geneseo at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Le Roy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 64.5 points per game this season. As for Letchworth, they will challenge Caledonia-Mumford at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Caledonia-Mumford's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four games.
