Recap: Sierra Grande Panthers vs. Arickaree Bison
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only The Sierra Grande Panthers walked away with it. They blew past Arickaree 66-20 on the road. Considering Sierra Grande has won four games by more than 34 points this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Brian Ontiveros had a dynamite game for Sierra Grande, picking up 119 receiving yards and two touchdowns, while also punching in two touchdowns on the ground. Ontiveros was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 63 yards. Another player making a difference was Aron Ojeda, who threw for 114 yards and two touchdowns.
Several Bison players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Austin Wright, who rushed for 131 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 70 yards and a touchdown. Dillon Noletubby was another key contributor, rushing for 100 yards and a touchdown on only nine carries.
Sierra Grande's win bumped their record up to 7-3. As for Arickaree, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-4 record this season.
Sierra Grande is on the road again on Saturday and play against Stratton at 1:00 p.m. on November 11th. Stratton knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matches -- so hopefully Sierra Grande likes a good challenge. Arickaree does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
