Soccer Game Preview: Briarwood Christian vs. Spain Park

Briarwood Christian hasn't had much luck against Spain Park recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Lions will head out on the road to face off against the Jaguars at 6:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Briarwood Christian is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. Their defense stepped up to hand Helena an 8-0 shutout. The win continues a trend for Briarwood Christian in their matchups with Helena: they've now won nine in a row.

Meanwhile, Spain Park entered their tilt with McAdory on Thursday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They put the hurt on the Yellowjackets with a sharp 10-0 victory. Given Spain Park's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama soccer rankings (they are ranked first, while McAdory are ranked 85th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Spain Park's win bumped their record up to 16-3-1. As for Briarwood Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 10-7.

Briarwood Christian couldn't quite get it done against Spain Park in their previous meeting on April 8th as they fell 5-3. Can the Lions avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
