Football Game Preview: St. Michael Warriors vs. Loranger Wolves

The St. Michael Warriors will square off against the Loranger Wolves at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. St. Michael will be strutting in after a victory while Loranger will be coming in after a defeat.

St. Michael was handed a heart-breaking three-point loss in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against McKinley on Friday. The Warriors blew past the Panthers 52-0. Given the Warriors' advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana football rankings (they are ranked 123rd, while the Panthers are ranked 275th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Loranger played a tough matchup on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 41-20 to Pearl River. The defeat continues a trend for the Wolves in their meetings with the Rebels: they've now lost five in a row.

St. Michael will have to keep a close watch on Tydarrius Holland and Skyler Morgan, a pair of players who had a big impact on Loranger's prior game. Holland picked up 146 receiving yards and one score, while Morgan rushed for 85 yards on only 12 carries.

Loranger's record now sits at 4-6. As for St. Michael, their win bumped their record up to 7-3.

Everything went St. Michael's way against Loranger when the teams last played back in September of 2016, as St. Michael made off with a 20-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Warriors since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
