Recap: Franklin County Seahawks vs. Port St. Joe Tiger Sharks
The Franklin County Seahawks came tearing into Saturday's match with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.4 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against Port St. Joe by a score of 33-22. This was payback for Franklin County, who suffered a 72-28 loss the last time these two teams met.
Franklin County found their leader in underclassman Sa'ryiah McNair, who scored 14 points. Another player making a difference was Mahalah Griggs, who scored eight points.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Port St. Joe struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only an offensive rebound. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Franklin County pushed their record up to 11-4 with that victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Port St. Joe, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Franklin County will take on St. John Paul II at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. St. John Paul II has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Port St. Joe, Port St. Joe and Wewahitchka will face off at 5:00 p.m. on January 16th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Wewahitchka is coming into the game on a six-game losing streak.
