Softball Recap: Cypress Lake Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

There's no place like home for Cypress Lake, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They never let the East Lee County Jaguars get on the board and left with a 15-0 victory on Tuesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Panthers considering their one-run performance the contest before.

Audrina Westland made a splash while hitting and pitching. She pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with six RBI, two triples, and three runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in February.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Baylee Spano, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Mackenzy Stouffer was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Cypress Lake always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .654. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

With the win, Cypress Lake broke their five-game losing streak and moved their record to 6-12. As for East Lee County, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-12 record this season.

Cypress Lake will welcome Gateway at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.76 runs per game on average), something the Panthers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for East Lee County, they have already played their next match, a 0-0 victory against Lehigh on the 17th.
