Baseball Game Preview: Ashbrook Greenwave vs. Garinger Wildcats

The Ashbrook Greenwave will face off against the Garinger Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The timing is sure in Ashbrook's favor as the squad sits on three straight wins at home while Garinger has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.

On Thursday, Ashbrook got the win against Chambers by a conclusive 22-7.

AJ McClain was incredible, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with five stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Ashbrook's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 7-1 (and 2-12 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Evan Lee, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.

Ashbrook kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.6 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matchups they've averaged 9.6.

Garinger played against West Mecklenburg on Friday and lost via forfeit.

Garinger's loss dropped their record down to 5-16. As for Ashbrook, their victory bumped their record up to 9-13.

Everything went Ashbrook's way against Garinger in their previous matchup back in March, as Ashbrook made off with a 16-5 win. Do the Greenwave have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wildcats turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
