Basketball Game Preview: Duluth Wildcats vs. Meadowcreek Mustangs

Duluth is 2-8 against Meadowcreek since February of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. Having just played yesterday, the Duluth Wildcats will head out on the road to face off against the Meadowcreek Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. Duluth has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

On Thursday, Duluth sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 59-57 win over Brookwood. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 97th, while the Broncos are ranked 246th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Meadowcreek hadn't done well against Peachtree Ridge recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Meadowcreek slipped by Peachtree Ridge 48-47. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Mustangs.

Duluth better focus on containing Christian Carr and Javon Armstrong as the pair were huge in Meadowcreek's win. Carr posted 15 points in addition to five assists and five boards, while Armstrong went 5 for 11 en route to 14 points and seven rebounds. The dominant performance gave Carr a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Enzo Wea, who had five points and seven boards.

Meadowcreek smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in four consecutive matchups.

Duluth has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-9 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.0 points per game. As for Meadowcreek, their record now sits at 16-6.

Duluth came up short against Meadowcreek in their previous matchup on January 7th, falling 55-49. Can Duluth avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
