Softball Recap: Fort Wayne North Side Takes a Loss

Fort Wayne North Side extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to ten on Friday, dropping their season record down to 0-3 in the process. They lost 22-3 to the Westview Warriors. The Legends were not able to make up for their loss to the Warriors from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Fort Wayne North Side saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ashlyn Maple, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

As for Westview, the win got them back to even at 2-2. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

On Westview's side, Ella Williams made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. Those 11 strikeouts gave Williams a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, Janissa Lehman was a standout: she got on base in all five of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ava Gilbert, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI.

Coming up, Fort Wayne North Side will face off against Fort Wayne Bishop Luers at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Westview, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 7-6 victory against Fremont on the 21st.
