Softball Recap: Central Comes Up Short

Central came into their game on Monday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 17-2 to the Huntley Red Raiders. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Rockets of the 6-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2025.

Mei Shirokawa was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run.

Central now has a losing record of 5-6. As for Huntley, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Central will face off against rival Hampshire at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Huntley is set to challenge their familiar foe McHenry at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
