Softball Recap: Jennings Has No Trouble Against Vinton

Jennings's game last Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. Everything went their way against the Vinton Lions as the Jennings Bulldogs made off with an 18-2 victory. The win continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Lions: they've now won six in a row.

Emma Venable was a standout: she scored two runs while going 2-for-4. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season. Emma Kate Mack was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Jennings always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. The last time their OBP was this high was back in February of 2024.

Jennings' victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 3-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Vinton, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Looking ahead, Jennings will head out on the road to challenge Kinder at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Jennings is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11 runs per game this season. As for Vinton, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Washington-Marion at 1:00 p.m. on Monday. Vinton has given up an average of 15.2 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
