Basketball Recap: Hammond Takes a Loss

Hammond has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They lost 73-47 to the Covington Lions on Friday. The Tornadoes were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Lions earlier this season, when they won 64-61.

Loss or not, Hammond got some senior leadership from Justin Harland and Jordin Lewis. Harland went 5 for 12 on his way to 12 points and four steals, while Lewis posted ten points and five steals. Harland is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jaron Guillory, who earned four points and four steals.

Hammond's defeat dropped their record down to 17-8. As for Covington, their victory bumped their record up to 25-14.

Hammond didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 70-57 loss against French Settlement on the 10th. Covington has also already played their next game (against East Iberville), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
