Basketball Recap: Natalie Martinez's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Roosevelt over Avail Academy

Roosevelt was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 34-24 to Avail Academy. The Teddies were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Avail Academy apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2018.

Roosevelt lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Natalie Martinez, who posted five points and five rebounds. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in blocks (two). Another player making a difference was Georgia Levin, who had eight points and seven steals.

Roosevelt's defeat dropped their record down to 8-16. As for Avail Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Roosevelt will square off against Minneapolis Southwest at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Avail Academy, they will be playing at home against West Lutheran at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
