Softball Game Preview: Leading Edge Academy - GEC Spartans vs. Pima Roughriders

Leading Edge Academy - GEC is preparing for their first region matchup of the season on Thursday. They will venture away from home to challenge the Pima Roughriders at 4:00 p.m. Leading Edge Academy - GEC will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.

On Wednesday, Leading Edge Academy - GEC got the win against Madison Highland Prep by a conclusive 27-6. The game marked the Spartans' most dominant win of the season.

Corynn Foster was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last ten games she's played. Shareen Liszak was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs.

Leading Edge Academy - GEC always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .696. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.

Meanwhile, Pima fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Chandler Prep on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 12-8 to the Titans. The Roughriders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Bivianna Vega was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run while going 4-for-5. Another player making a difference was Tatum Brinkerhoff, who scored a run while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

Leading Edge Academy - GEC's victory ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-6. As for Pima, their loss dropped their record down to 2-6.

Pima's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Leading Edge Academy - GEC has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.8 hits per game. It's a different story for Pima, though, as they've been averaging 12.6 hits. Given Leading Edge Academy - GEC's sizable advantage in that area, the Roughriders will need to find a way to close that gap.
