The Fairland Dragons will venture away from home to square off against the South Point Pointers at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
On Wednesday, Fairland came up short against Rock Hill and fell 10-5.
Maddie Cornwell made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Yardley Gorby, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for South Point, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They came out on top against Gallia Academy by a score of 7-3 on Thursday. The Pointers haven't had any issues with the Blue Devils recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Kota Copley made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 11 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 15 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kaylee Stidham, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and five RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Raygen Yates was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.
South Point was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .381 or higher in five consecutive games.
South Point's record now sits at 14-6. As for Fairland, their loss was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-15.
Fairland might still be hurting after the 6-0 defeat they got from South Point in their previous meeting back in April. Can the Dragons avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
