Softball Recap: Archbishop Mcnicholas Extends Road Winning Streak to Four

Archbishop McNicholas proved they can win big on Monday (they won by eight) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past the Sycamore Aviators 6-5. While the Rockets didn't have the best season last year (they finished 4-6), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Natalie Jones spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned runs on 11 hits and racked up seven Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Lucy Laudeman, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Katelyn Lynch also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Archbishop McNicholas kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in three consecutive games.

Archbishop McNicholas' win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-4. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Sycamore, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-5.

Looking ahead, Archbishop McNicholas will challenge Archbishop Alter at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Knights have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14 runs per game on average), something the Rockets will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Sycamore, they will face off against Oak Hills at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
