Volleyball Game Preview: San Dieguito Academy Mustangs vs. Carlsbad Lancers

San Dieguito Academy has won four straight games at home (dating back to last season), while Carlsbad has won four straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Tuesday. The San Dieguito Academy Mustangs will host the Carlsbad Lancers at 6:00 p.m.

Last Wednesday, San Dieguito Academy didn't have quite enough to beat Clairemont and fell 3-2.

San Dieguito Academy took a 2-1 lead headed into the fourth set, but sadly they lost the next two. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 18-25, 21-25, 25-20, 15-13.

Henry Wegener put forth a good effort for the losing side as he had 18 digs and five assists. That's the most digs he has posted since back in April of 2024.

Meanwhile, Carlsbad posted their closest win since February 21st on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Mater Dei 2-1.

Carlsbad had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next two. The final score came out to 17-25, 25-19, 15-11.

San Dieguito Academy has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-4 record this season. Carlsbad's win bumped their record up to 11-1.
