Softball Recap: West Park Extends Winning Streak to Seven

West Park waltzed into their contest on Thursday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They never let the Kennedy Cougars get on the board and left with a 19-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won five matchups by ten runs or more so far this season.

Jessica Cochran was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February.

In other batting news, West Park got a massive performance out of Vivianna Martinez, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and four runs. Those four runs gave Martinez a new career-high. Jolene White was another key player, going 2-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles.

West Park pushed their record up to 11-5 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 20.0 runs over those games. As for Kennedy, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last 12 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-12 record this season.

West Park will face off against Cordova at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Lancers have averaged an impressive 6.8 runs per game this season. As for Kennedy, they will square off against Grant at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cougars are facing the Pacers at the right time seeing as the Pacers are stuck on a 13-game losing streak.
