Softball Recap: Dreher Gets the Win

Dreher took a 14-run defeat the last time they faced off against Camden, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Blue Devils had just enough and edged out the Bulldogs 9-8. This was a revenge game for the Blue Devils: when they faced off against the Bulldogs on Tuesday, they had to take a 14-0 loss.

Rory McCormack spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and three unearned) runs on 11 hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Kendall Gipson was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Anna Coates was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one double.

Dreher is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for Camden, they now have a losing record of 7-8.

The future could be bright for both Dreher and Camden: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. The Blue Devils will try to hand Aiken their seventh-straight defeat when the two meet at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Camden will look to extend Crestwood's 11-game losing streak when they meet at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
