Baseball Recap: Houlton Shiretowners vs. Presque Isle Wildcats
Houlton was the 6-4 winner over Presque Isle when they last played one another back in May of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Shiretowners took an 8-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wildcats on Thursday. The Shiretowners have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Thadon Gentle put in work no matter where he played. He tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in walks (zero). He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Those RBI were his first of the season.
Gentle wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Aedan Valles, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run. Another was Mark Thibodeau, who went 2-for-3 with one run.
Houlton's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Presque Isle, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Houlton will head out to square off against Orono at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Presque Isle, they will venture away from home to take on Fort Kent at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
