The Knightstown Panthers will venture away from home to take on the Northeastern Knights at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Knightstown's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They put the hurt on Morristown with a sharp 16-0 win. The victory was just business as usual for the Panthers, who after six games remain undefeated this season.
Carson Bonham was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Bonham was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
In other pitching news, Mason Butler looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Travis Louks, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Kelton Weaver was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Northeastern). Everything went their way against Union County on Thursday as they made off with a 13-6 win. The Knights haven't had any issues with the Patriots recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
Northeastern's win was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Logan White, who went 4-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Another was Riley Isaacs, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
Northeastern kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.
Knightstown pushed their record up to 6-0 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 9.0 runs this season. As for Northeastern, their record now sits at 4-1.
Tuesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Knightstown hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .346. However, it's not like Northeastern struggles in that department as they've averaged .341. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Knightstown was able to grind out a solid victory over Northeastern in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, winning 4-1. Do the Panthers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Knights turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
