Monterey is 9-1 against Lubbock-Cooper since February of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Monterey Plainsmen will look to defend their home court against the Lubbock-Cooper Pirates at 7:30 p.m.

Monterey is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Amarillo just ended the team's five-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a blow against the Sandies, falling 72-44. The Plainsmen were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 38-17.

Meanwhile, Lubbock-Cooper came tearing into Tuesday's game with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 52-50 win over the Rebels.

Lubbock-Cooper pushed their record up to 16-10 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.0 points per game. As for Monterey, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-16.

Monterey didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Lubbock-Cooper in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, but they still walked away with a 63-57 win.
