Baseball Game Preview: Colony Titans vs. Upland Highlanders/Scots

The Colony Titans will square off against the Upland Highlanders/Scots at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. The timing is sure in Colony's favor as the squad sits on four straight wins at home while Upland has been banged up by nine consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.

Colony is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 12 runs on Wednesday, they were much more limited against Alta Loma on Friday. They fell just short of the Braves by a score of 3-2.

Colony got a good showing from Steven Gonzales, who pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Gonzales has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Colony saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carlos Barba, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Upland fell victim to Charter Oak and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They fell just short of the Chargers by a score of 2-0.

Upland also got a good showing from Issac Carlos, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

Colony's defeat dropped their record down to 9-3. As for Upland, their loss dropped their record down to 2-6.

Upland's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Colony hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .354. It's a different story for Upland, though, as they've only averaged .209. Will they be able to contain Colony's hitters?

Colony skirted past Upland 3-2 in their previous matchup back in February of 2019. Will Colony repeat their success, or does Upland has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
