Volleyball Recap: Mater Dei Makes It Three in a Row on the Road

Mater Dei won the last time they faced Orange Lutheran and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Monarchs came out on top against the Lancers by a score of 3-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Monarchs.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 19-25, 25-21, 25-16.

Ben Smith paced Mater Dei's offense, picking up 27 kills. Smith got some help from Jake Newman and his 51 assists. Smith was also solid from the service line: he led the team with three aces.

Despite the defeat, Orange Lutheran saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Brayden Weber had 15 digs and one assist. Max Lopez was another key player, getting seven digs and two aces.

Mater Dei's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 19-10-2. As for Orange Lutheran, their loss dropped their record down to 13-9.

Mater Dei didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 3-0 victory against Santa Margarita on the 4th. As for Orange Lutheran, they have also already played their next matchup, a 3-1 win against St. John Bosco on the 3rd.
