Basketball Recap: Alva Skates Past Blackwell with Ease

Alva won the last time they faced Blackwell and things went their way on Friday too. The Alva Goldbugs took their contest with ease, bagging a 75-34 win over the Blackwell Maroons. The Goldbugs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matchups by 40 points or more this season.

Leading Alva to victory were Jaycee Kelln and Lakin Gaddy. Kelln went 9 of 19 on her way to 21 points, while Gaddy went 6 for 15 on her way to 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaylen Woods, who posted eight points and five rebounds.

Alva has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.5 points per game. As for Blackwell, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-4.

Alva will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Fairview at 6:30 p.m. on January 14th. Alva will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. As for Blackwell, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Waynoka at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Blackwell is facing Waynoka at the right time seeing as Waynoka is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
