Recap: Utica Chieftains vs. Lake Shore Shorians
The Utica Chieftains put another one in the bag on Monday to keep their perfect season alive. They took their matchup at home with ease, bagging a 57-29 victory over Lake Shore. Utica has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six contests by 22 points or more this season.
Utica had a senior duo take command as Mason Brodi scored 20 points along with seven rebounds and two steals and Luke Cottingham scored 19 points along with eight rebounds. Brodi is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last six games he's played. Ali Hassan was another key contributor, scoring five points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Utica's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-0. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.1 points per game. As for Lake Shore, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost nine of their last ten matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Utica will face off against Utica Ford at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Utica Ford will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Michigan Rankings (they are ranked 364th, while Utica is ranked 23rd). As for Lake Shore, they will head out on the road to take on Anchor Bay at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
