Basketball Recap: Friday's Victory Is Pinckneyville's Seventh in Last Eight Outings

Pinckneyville won the last time they faced Anna-Jonesboro and things went their way on Friday too. The Pinckneyville Panthers strolled past the Anna-Jonesboro Wildcats with points to spare, taking the game 62-44. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 57th, while the Wildcats are ranked 332nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Pinckneyville is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-2 record this season. As for Anna-Jonesboro, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-9.

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Pinckneyville Panthers challenge the Herrin Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Pinckneyville has won nine straight at home dating back to last season, while Herrin won three straight on the road), something that'll have to change. As for Anna-Jonesboro, they will venture away from home to face off against DuQuoin at 7:30 p.m. on January 10th.
