Baseball Game Preview: Highland Rams vs. Bath County Chargers

The Highland Rams will face off against the Bath County Chargers at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Highland is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last six games.

Last Monday, Highland beat Bath County 13-8.

Zach Armstrong made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Armstrong was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last six times he's played.

In other batting news, Patton Hull was incredible, going 3-for-5 with three stolen bases, four runs, and two RBI. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Evan Kimble was another key player, going 3-for-4 with four RBI and one run.

Highland was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .419. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Highland's record is now 8-5. As for Bath County, they dropped their record down to 4-9 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Highland has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Bath County struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.8 strikeouts.
