Basketball Recap: Indian Creek Braves vs. Martinsville Artesians

Indian Creek was the 60-57 winner over Martinsville when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Indian Creek Braves took a 78-71 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Martinsville Artesians on Tuesday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Saturday (68), the Braves still had to take the loss.

Grady Gardner had a dynamite game for Martinsville, going 11 of 22 on his way to 30 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Gardner has scored at least a third of Martinsville's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Hunter Stroud, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds.

This is the second loss in a row for Indian Creek and nudges their season record down to 2-3. As for Martinsville, their victory ended an eight-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 1-2.
