Baseball Recap: Scotland County Takes a Loss

Scotland County fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Salisbury on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 5-4. The Tigers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Panthers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Scotland County saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tayte Richmond, who went 3-for-5 with one stolen base and one run. The Tigers are 2-1 when Richmond posts three or more hits, but 4-5 otherwise. Marcus Smith was another, going 2-for-3 with two runs.

Scotland County's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-6. As for Salisbury, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Scotland County will challenge Canton at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Salisbury, they will square off against Northeast at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
