Baseball Game Preview: Winnacunnet Warriors vs. Salem Blue Devils

The Winnacunnet Warriors will challenge the Salem Blue Devils on Wednesday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Winnacunnet is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Goffstown 2-1. Winning may never get old, but the Warriors sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Meanwhile, Salem faced Londonderry in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Blue Devils skirted past the Lancers 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Blue Devils have posted against the Lancers since June 2, 2016.

Salem is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 16-11 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Winnacunnet, they now have a winning record of 12-11-1.

Winnacunnet couldn't quite get it done against Salem when the teams last played back in April as they fell 6-2. Can the Warriors avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
