Basketball Recap: Cherry Piles Up the Points Against Kelley

Cherry won the last time they faced Kelley and things went their way on Friday too. The Cherry Tigers simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Kelley Mariners 76-36. The Tigers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matchups by 22 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Cherry to victory, but perhaps none more so than Anna Serna, who went 5-for-9 to rack up 17 points in addition to eight rebounds and six assists. The contest was Serna's fifth in a row with at least 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aunika Helms, who dropped a double-double with 18 points and 18 boards.

Cherry smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Cherry has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 games, which provided a massive bump to their 13-11 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.4 points over those games. As for Kelley, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-19.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight will be fought as the Tigers take on the Panthers at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Kelley, they will head out to challenge Cook County at 3:00 p.m. on Monday.
