Recap: Montgomery Tigers vs. Northwood Gators
After a string of three wins, the Montgomery Tigers's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They took a 44-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of Northwood. Montgomery has not had much luck with Northwood recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.
Montgomery lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being A Manson, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. Manson is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Z Gates, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds.
Montgomery's defeat dropped their record down to 16-7. As for Northwood, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a massive bump to their 8-9 record this season.
Montgomery will head out on the road to face off against LaSalle at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. LaSalle is on a five-game streak of home wins, Montgomery a six-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. Northwood won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Ruston at 5:30 p.m. on January 10th. Ruston presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Northwood in Louisiana (Ruston is ranked 30th, while Northwood is ranked 90th).
