Baseball Game Preview: Westchester Comets vs. Palisades Dolphins

For the second straight game, Westchester will face off against Palisades. The Comets are taking a road trip to challenge the Dolphins at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. Westchester has given up an average of 10.1 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Westchester came up short against Palisades on Wednesday, falling 20-1. The Comets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

For Palisades' part, Caleb Gitlin made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Gitlin has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three).

In other pitching news, Yamato Yukimoto looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Palisades is 3-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 2-5 otherwise.

Back at the plate, Roman Hawk was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Andreas Konnari was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.

Palisades always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .558. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Westchester's defeat dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Palisades, their record now sits at 5-6.
