The Armstrong Trojans are taking a road trip to face off against the Oakwood Comets at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Armstrong is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.
On Friday, Armstrong came up short against Iroquois West and fell 7-4.
Ryan Edwards made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all five of his plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Oakwood). They were the clear victors by a 17-0 margin over Cissna Park on Friday. The Comets haven't had any issues with the Timberwolves recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.
Cam Harris looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over four innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April.
On the hitting side, Jackson Dudley and Chase Harrison did most of the damage at the plate: Dudley went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, one run, and one double, while Harrison got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Oakwood is undefeated when Harrison posts two or more runs, but 7-9 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Xander Wilson, who went 2-for-4 with three runs and one RBI.
Oakwood kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cissna Park only managed three hits.
Armstrong's loss dropped their record down to 11-5. As for Oakwood, their record now sits at 14-9.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Armstrong has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Oakwood struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 2.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
