Baseball Recap: Southwest Triumphs

Southwest and Eastern Hills faced off in a cross-town battle on Friday. The Southwest Raiders walked away with a 6-1 win over the Eastern Hills Highlanders. The victory continues a trend for the Raiders in their matchups with the Highlanders: they've now won four in a row.

Jaxon Moss was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent over his last three matchups. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Oscar Castillo, who scored a run and stole Four bases. while going 1-for-3. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in stolen bases. The team also got some help courtesy of Ricky Winters, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Southwest's win bumped their record up to 5-9. As for Eastern Hills, they are on a 12-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Southwest will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Carter-Riverside at 7:00 p.m. on March 25th. As for Eastern Hills, they will take on Western Hills at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Eastern Hills is facing Western Hills at the right time seeing as Western Hills is stuck on a 12-game losing streak.
