Baseball Recap: Irrigon Wins Going Away Against Pilot Rock

Irrigon got themselves on the board against Pilot Rock on Friday, but Pilot Rock never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Rockets. That ten run margin sets a new team best for the Knights this season.

Rene Garcia made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Brock Locey was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with four stolen bases and one run. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Bennette Atkins, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Irrigon always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .515. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Irrigon picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 5-3. As for Pilot Rock, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Irrigon will take on Elgin at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Pilot Rock, they will challenge Sherman at 12:00 p.m. on Friday.
