Baseball Recap: Union Springs Makes It Ten in a Row on the Road

Union Springs got themselves on the board against Newark Valley on Wednesday, but Newark Valley never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Cardinals with a sharp 14-0 victory. The Wolves might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by eight runs or more this season.

Anthony DeAngelis made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. DeAngelis was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

In other pitching news, Logan Peed looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Aaron Johnson, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four runs and two stolen bases. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lucas Witer, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Union Springs always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .605. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Newark Valley only posted an OBP of .400.

Union Springs' win was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-0. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average this season. As for Newark Valley, they are on a ten-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-8.
