Volleyball Recap: Springboro Takes a Loss

After flying high against Fairmont last Tuesday, Springboro came back down to earth. The Panthers came up short against the Mercy McAuley Wolves on Monday, falling 3-0. The Panthers were not able to make up for their defeat to the Wolves from their previous meeting back in October of 2018.

Springboro was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the first set very close. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 25-10, 25-19.

Reese Aracri paced Springboro's offense, picking up eight kills. Aracri got some help from Lily Mercer and her 22 assists.

Devin Carter was the offensive standout of the match as she had 13 digs and four aces. That's the most aces she has posted since back in September of 2024.

Springboro moved to 11-5 with that loss, which also ended their three-match winning streak. As for Mercy McAuley, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-11.

Springboro has already played their next contest, a 3-1 win against Northmont on the 30th. Mercy McAuley has also already played their next matchup (against Mount Notre Dame), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
