Softball Recap: Friday's Win Is Fremont's Tenth in Last 11 Outings

Fremont's rock-solid pitcher showed up for the team's third consecutive shutout on Friday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Orchard View Cardinals a 16-0 shutout. Considering the Packers have won 14 games by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Riley Derks was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Izabel Austin was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Fremont kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in nine consecutive matches.

Fremont is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-5-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. As for Orchard View, they dropped their record down to 2-13 with the defeat, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fremont will venture away from home to take on Hesperia at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Orchard View, they will square off against Montague at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
