Basketball Recap: Julius Miles' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Freeport over Pensacola Catholic

On Friday, the Freeport Bulldogs lost to the Pensacola Catholic Crusaders on the road by a 73-57 margin. The Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Julius Miles, who went 9 of 21 on his way to 24 points. That was a full 42.1% of Freeport's points, marking the seventh time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. Noah Raines was another key player, putting up three points along with eight assists and five steals.

Pensacola Catholic got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Solomon Sutton out in front who went 7 for 10 en route to 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sam Quebedeaux, who had 16 points.

Freeport's defeat dropped their record down to 13-8. As for Pensacola Catholic, with the win, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 13-8.

Freeport will challenge Bozeman at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Freeport knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 15 contests -- so hopefully Bozeman likes a good challenge. Pensacola Catholic has already played their next matchup (against Rutherford), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
