Softball Recap: Edgewood Gets the Win

It was a proper cat-fight when Edgewood duked it out with Franklin on Saturday. The Cougars had just enough and edged out the Wildcats 2-1. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last three times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Jaycie Broshear spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Evelyn Henson, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Edgewood's win bumped their record up to 8-16. As for Franklin, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 14-8 record this season.

Edgewood will take on Springfield at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Franklin does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
