Basketball Game Preview: Millikan Rams vs. Lakewood Lancers

The Millikan Rams will head out on the road to face off against the Lakewood Lancers at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Millikan is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.3 points per game this season.

On Saturday, Millikan rang in the new year with a 50-43 win over Maranatha. Given the Rams' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 217th, while the Minutemen are ranked 594th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Jeremiah Hunt and Isma?Il Abdul-Rahman were among the main playmakers for Millikan as the former went 8 for 16 on his way to 21 points and the latter almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 14 rebounds. With that strong performance, Abdul-Rahman is now averaging an impressive 8.3 boards per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Jalen Stewart, who posted six points.

Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Lakewood's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They fell just short of Cleveland by a score of 59-57. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Lancers have suffered since February 7, 2024.

Millikan's record now sits at 9-7. As for Lakewood, their loss dropped their record down to 11-7.

Millikan came up short against Lakewood in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, falling 81-68. Can Millikan avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
