Basketball Recap: Riverside Snaps Three-Game Streak of Losses at Home

Hughes came into Tuesday's contest looking for another win against Riverside, but Jack Cupples wouldn't allow it. The stars were shining brightly for the Riverside Panthers in a 73-59 win over the Hughes Lions on Tuesday thanks in part to Cupples, who dropped a double-double on 29 points and 11 boards. He is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last eight games he's played.

Jase England was another key player, putting up six points. He continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played.

Riverside's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-6. As for Hughes, their defeat ended an eight-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 6-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Riverside Panthers take on the Lexington Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Hughes, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Adamsville at 7:30 p.m. on January 6, 2025.
