Walnut Grove took  a  three-set  loss the last time they faced off against Lovejoy, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Wildcats had just enough and edged out the Leopards  3-2. The  victory was nothing new for the Wildcats as they're now sitting on five straight.
 Walnut Grove took Lovejoy into a fifth set  where they got it done with a three-point win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 20-25, 25-18, 25-22, 19-25,  15-12.
 Katherine Clegg paced Walnut Grove's offense, picking up 22 kills. Clegg got some help from  Danielle Whitmire and her 28 assists.  Vivian Crumley controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.
Walnut Grove's win bumped their record up to 23-6. As for Lovejoy, their defeat  ended  a  seven-game streak of away wins  dating back to last season and  brought them to 22-9.
 We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Walnut Grove will  square off against  rival Sherman  at 6:00  p.m.  on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Lovejoy is set to  face off against  their familiar foe McKinney North  at 6:00  p.m.  on Tuesday.
