Basketball Recap: Payton College Prep Comes Up Short

Payton College Prep lost against Simeon back in January of 2022 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Payton College Prep Grizzlies came up short against the Simeon Wolverines, falling 72-46. While losing is never fun, the Grizzlies can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 452nd, while the Wolverines are ranked 216th).

Dijiona Berrien continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Simeon, dropping a double-double on 27 points and 23 boards. Berrien's evening made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Gabby Howard, who posted 11 points and three steals.

Payton College Prep has traveled a rocky road recently having lost 11 of their last 12 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-19 record this season. As for Simeon, their victory bumped their record up to 12-13.

Payton College Prep will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Trinity at 6:30 p.m. on February 11th. Simeon does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
