University is coming home in high spirits after they had to open their season on the road against Mainland. University had just enough and edged Mainland out 31-28.

A big part of the victory came down to the chemistry between Malachi Walters and his top target Barrett Schulz. Walters threw for 175 yards and three touchdowns while Schulz picked up 127 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Jermane Hayes made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.

University wouldn't let Mainland keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force three fumbles. University can thank Mason Moore and Raymon Hunter for forcing all of them.

Meanwhile, North Miami made easy work of Jackson on Friday and carried off a 32-12 win.

Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, North Miami was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 200 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 156 rushing yards in eight consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

North Miami's defense made their presence known, laying out the QB seven times. Lewenski Ydore was especially locked on to Jackson's QB and sacked him four times.
